2013 Delinquent Tax Report

Each year the citizens of Madison County pay their annual property tax to the county.  In the event an individual fails to pay by the deadline the property may be purchased at the annual tax sale.  


Tax Bill Process

  • October: The Madison County Sheriff mails the tax bill postcard
  • October-April 14: The Madison County Sheriff collects all property tax
  • April 15: The delinquent tax bills are transferred to the Madison County Clerk's Office for late collection.
  • April 15-Date of Tax Sale: The Madison County Attorney's Office will attempt to notify the property owner of the delinquency.  If the tax bill is not paid in full by the date of the tax sale, the tax bill (not the actual property) will go up for sale and may be purchased by a third party purchaser.

 

Tax Sale

The 2014 tax sale date has been approved by the Department of Revenue and will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014.

 

Third Party Purchasers

All Third party purchasers purchasing one or more bills are required to submit the Registration form for Tax Sale with the Madison County Clerks Office. Any Third party purchasers wishing to purchase three or more bills are also required to register with the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Revenue Cabinet. For more information Click Here.
